The road bridge over Sugovica, built in 1982, connects the area formerly known as Little Pandur Island directly to the city centre.
It is bordered on the east by the Sugovica and on the west by the waters of the István Türr dam. It was originally the northeastern part of the Pandur Island. It was separated from the large island by the István Türr cut, which continued the line of the channel, during the construction of the Baja-Bezdan feeder canal (1870-1875).
The island is a popular recreational area in the city, where many events and sporting events are held. In addition to restaurants, accommodation, a sports pool, tennis courts and a football pitch, the island is home to an impressive new building inaugurated in 2015, which hosts events and a bicycle rental service. Sugovica, the branch of the Danube that surrounds the island, is ideal for fishing and water sports, while its sandy shore is popular with beach lovers.
