CYCLING TRAILS IN THE GEMEN FOREST

The Danube protection filling, which runs next to the Ecotourism Centre, offers a great opportunity to explore the Gemen Forest by bike. Bicycles can be rented at the Ecotourism Centre. You can also use the forest railway to transport your own or rented bikes.

From Pörböly to the North

Distance: 12 km

Time: 3 hours

Starting from the Ecotourism Centre, after 6 km along the flood protection embankment, the hiker arrives at the blue cross tourist path leading to the Millstream, where he can visit the first nature trail in the Gemen Forest and the birdwatching tower. From here, you can change from the bicycle saddle to the small railway to return to the starting station, or you can also return to Pörböly along the route you have already taken. Continuing along the embankment, you can also visit the Lankóc Water Museum.

From Pörböly South

Distance: 21 km

Time: 4-5 hours

Starting from Pörböly, you can cycle all the way to Bata on the Danube's protective embankment. Along the way, it is worth taking the Nyéki-Holt Danube nature trail, visiting the birdwatching tower overlooking the Bátai-Holt Danube and the Black Stork Museum in Bata. The round trip is about 15 km long and can easily be completed in 4 hours.

CYCLING ROUTES IN BÁCS- KISKUN COUNTY

If you choose cycling as a healthy lifestyle, you are making the right choice if you choose our county. Bácska and Kiskunság, which lie between two rivers, are great for cyclists for several reasons. For one thing, there are no big differences in altitude in Bács-Kiskun, so it makes sense to organise a cycling tour with children. On the other hand, you can see the endless vastness of the landscape, which you can admire from a real bird's eye view from a lookout. And if it's cycling, then it's health: our county is also an excellent destination for ecotourism enthusiasts. It's worth stopping off at an organic farm on the way to stock up on vitamin-packed fruit and vegetables. If you organise your tour well, you can relax at the end of the day in one of the spas or end the evening in a wine cellar with excellent wines.

Eurovelo 13 stage in Bács-Kiskun county:

Mohács (Mohácsi rév)- Újmohács- Nagybaracska- Csátalja- Gara- Bácsborsód- Bácsbokod- Bácsalmás approx. 65 km

There is a regular ferry service between Mohács (on the right side of the Danube) and Újmohács (on the left side of the Danube). Current ferry timetable: http://www.mohacsvgv.hu/menetrend

From Újmohács we continue on the road 5107 to Nagybaračka.

Hint: After leaving the settlement of Sárhát, you can also reach Nagybaračka via an unpaved agricultural road, crossing the Füzeséri- Holt-Duna after crossing the Ferenc Canal (the planned EV13 route).

Leaving Nagybaračka we continue on the main road 51 towards Csátalja, then on the road 5505 towards Gara. Entering Gara (at the junction of roads 5505 and 5506), we follow Kossuth Lajos and then Páncsics Miklós streets. Then, also following the road 5505, we reach Bácsborsód and then Bácsbokod. You can also use the cycle path between the latter two settlements. From Bácsbokod we follow road 5501 to Bácsalmás.
