The brick-lined ship and supply lock was built in 1875 at the junction of the Sugovica, the Ferenc Canal and the Holt-Duna in Seremle.
The museum is housed in the historic building of the pumping station. Next to the entrance is a bust of István Türr, the man who was born in Baja and the innovator of the canal system, and a memorial plaque showing the level of the largest and most destructive Danube ice flood to date.
