Danube

Baja is a lifetime destination for water and sun lovers.

The city is flanked by the Danube and its tributaries, offering the opportunity for summer bathing, excursions and water sports. Its two mineral water springs and the nearby thermal baths (Nagybaracska, Dávod-Püspökpuszta) offer the benefits of the beneficial effects of the water. Gemenc, a largely forested floodplain, is home to many animals. To see them is an unparalleled experience.

Baja is considered a major transport hub. This is thanks to its multi-lane Danube bridge and its national public port. The city is the most important river port on the southern border of the European Union and a service base for international waterway traffic. To the north, crossing under the Türr Bridge, you can see the holiday homes of the Danube Forest resort area on the edge of the floodplain forest. Carp, pike, crucian carp and balin are the most common catches in the excellent fishing spots, but catfish, mackerel and perch are also worth fishing for. In winter you can catch ling. Fish is an important part of life in the town, as people in and around Baja are always keen to eat fish.
