István Türr Museum

The North-Bácska, the landscape museum of the northern part of the former Bács-Bodrog county, collects, processes, publishes and presents to the visitors the museum values of this area.

Permanent exhibitions: life on the Danube - fishing exhibition, Baja 300 years a city - exhibition on the history of Baja in the museum's exhibition hall on Roosevelt Square. Ethnographic groups around Baja - folk costumes, utensils, furniture, period photographs.

The archaeological collection of the Baja museum, which contains more than 40,000 items, is very rich in Migration Period and Avar artefacts. This collection contains the remains of the only Sarmatian cemetery in Europe to have been excavated in its entirety.

In addition to the Hungarians, several nationalities live in North Bačka: the Bunyevaks, the Sokats, the Germans, whose colourful costumes are reflected in the textile collection. The museum has a particularly important collection of tools from the small crafts and artisan workshops of Baja. The folk fishing collection is known and recognised nationally and even internationally.

The historical collection mainly contains objects relating to the history of the town.
