The beautiful pedestrian garden is named after the Viennese silk manufacturer and art collector Frigyes Déri, who came from Baja and returned to his hometown with a wealthy fortune.
He has always kept his Hungarian identity. He used his wealth, as his family did, to support culture. The 23-metre-high monument to the heroes of the First World War stands in the garden, which was created in 1914 from a donation by Frigyes Déri. The first Hungarian revolutionary monument was also erected here in 1956. The garden is still a faithful reflection of the founder's idea: "Home to sunshine, birdsong and children's laughter".
